COORDINATED TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
EMERGENCY INCLEMENT WEATHER PLANS
The following information is presented to clarify responsibilities of all parties in the event of an emergency or inclement weather with respect to student transportation services under contract with CCESC. These procedures are consistent with the following directives from New Jersey Bureau of Pupil Transportation and the Camden County Office of Education.
- All students will be transported to their respective school unless the school principal or designee has notified the bus company that they have closed.
- Students will not be transported to school if their resident district has closed. If a public school district closes, special education and private school students will not be transported from their resident district even if the destination school is open.
The following procedures will be in effect to implement these directives.
- The destination school has the responsibility to advise all transported students and their parents/guardians that they must be aware of the status of both their resident and destination schools to determine the availability of transportation in the event of an emergency or inclement weather.
- If a destination school is closed or on delayed opening, the destination school has responsibility to call all bus companies transporting students to their school and advise them accordingly. Bus companies are to cancel buses to the destination school or adjust their schedule to accommodate the delayed opening.
- If a student’s resident school is closed and the destination school is open, students from the resident school are notto be transported. Bus companies have responsibility to identify the status of resident schools and adjust schedules accordingly. For bus routes transporting students from multiple resident schools, buses are to be cancelled only if all resident schools on the route are cancelled.
- Transported students and their parent/guardian must be aware of the status of boththeir resident and destination schools to determine the availability of transportation in the event of an emergency or inclement weather.
- Early dismissals will be coordinated by the destination school principal and the bus companies serving the school.
